Autumn in Watercolour
Saturday 23rd September 10.00 am - 3.00 pm
Training Room, Lawrence Weston Community Farm
This is a day to explore, have fun and learn about something I consider to be a magical medium. Watercolour to me is the perfect partner to sketching and journaling! You don't have to use a journal, the workshop is suitable for anyone who wants to learn to begin to capture nature in watercolour.
Using nature as our focus we will learn to really look at our subjects, find out why observation is so important, and how attention to nature takes us to another level. We'll create some basic sketches, and then we will delve into colour! There will be practical sessions, but also playtime and fun!
You will have a chance to try out one or two other watersoluble mediums.
Weather permitting, we will have a session outside and use the wealth of subject matter at Lawrence Weston Community Farm, and the salt marsh landscape as inspiration, however, if that's not possible there will be lots of beautiful 'found' natural objects to work on - the training room is large, and has great views!
The cost for the day is £40.00 which includes coffee, tea and biscuits, use of other media and resources, and handouts for the day.
The venue: Lawrence Weston Community Farm is on the outskirts of the City of Bristol. There is a car park at the front of the farm, off Saltmarsh Drive. There is no cafe at the farm, so you'll need to bring your own lunch.Local shops including a Co-op and Greggs Bakery are a 5 minute walk away.
There's a free car park at the farm.
First Bus 3 and 4 (Broadmead to Cribbs Causeway) stop at Ridingleaze on Long Cross, a two minute walk from the farm entrance. Full details and travel information are on the website link above.
